Blue was originally created as a commissioned piece, though the commission ultimately fell through. Despite this, the work has become incredibly significant to me. The process took much longer than usual, which is unusual for me as my creative process tends to be fast and erratic—this "chaos" is often reflected in my work.
In the modern age, where AI and technology increasingly shape our understanding of reality, the piece explores the ways in which these forces distort our perception. The skull emerged as a powerful symbol, representing both the reality we know and its potential destruction under the influence of technological advancement.
My aim was to embed this sense of distortion within the piece itself, blurring the lines between reality and the fractured vision we now experience. The decision to photograph the piece outdoors was intentional, to create a stark contrast between the organic, natural forms of the environment and the artificiality of the work, heightening the tension between the two.
