Bowie has been a part of Grace’s life ever since she was a little girl. One of her all-time favourite films is Labyrinth, which she’s loved for as long as she can remember. Her admiration for David Bowie was largely influenced by her father, who is a huge fan himself. Some of her fondest memories are of spending time with her dad, sharing music and appreciating Bowie together.

These portraits—like much of Grace’s work—pay tribute to the great creatives who have shaped and inspired her practice. David Bowie wasn’t just a talented musician; he was also a painter and an avid art collector, owning one of the most impressive collections in the world. His fearless approach to creativity and his views on art and identity have had a lasting impact on Grace.

She often finds comfort in his words and the way he spoke about what it means to be an artist. His boundary-pushing attitude and ever-evolving identity inspire her to stay true to herself and her own vision. These artworks are a celebration of that influence—a visual reflection of the creativity, courage, and freedom Bowie embodied.
